Witness Information Pack

We have developed the Witness Information Pack to support witnesses who have been called to give evidence in court. This is intended as a one-stop guide to help you understand what to expect before, during and after attending court.

It brings together practical information for anyone who has been asked to give evidence in a criminal case – whether you’re a prosecution or defence witness, or supporting someone who is attending court.

The Witness Information Pack explains key stages of the court process including:

  • preparing for court
  • pre-trial visits
  • special measures
  • what happens on the day
  • giving evidence
  • support available after the trial

It also includes guidance on:

  • your rights
  • practical arrangements and planning
  • travel and expenses
  • where to find extra support if you need it

It is intended as a resource you can read in your own time at your own pace, helping you to feel more informed, prepared and confident about what to expect.
